Support for women entrepreneurs in Manitoba
Gives loans up to $50,000 to help Canadian women entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Aims to support their success and development.
Term loans for various business needs including leasehold improvements, advertising/marketing, purchase of existing business, inventory, and equipment. Startup interest rate is Prime +3%, Expansion interest rate is Prime +2%. Free business advising from experienced advisors, hands-on training workshops, and professional development networking events are also provided. Loan administration fees are 1% or up to $500. Loans can be repaid early without penalty. (Note: WEOC National Loan Fund, a partner program, has a maximum loan amount of $50,000, term up to 5 years, maximum interest rate Prime +4%).

Other Criteria: A legal entity, Canadian citizen or landed immigrant (or legal entity owned/controlled by them), Operating or about to operate in Manitoba (out-of-province ownership for businesses operating in Manitoba considered case-by-case), 51% or more owned by a self-identifying woman (cis, trans, 2S, gender-diverse) or operation owned and controlled by the same (50%+ ownership considered case-by-case), Complete business plan (approved by a WeMB Business Advisor) is required, Loan applications are evaluated on business concept, assets contributed, credit, personal character, competencies, and commitment, Business plan must demonstrate potential for commercial viability and loan repayment capacity, Applicants must demonstrate a reasonable personal history of credit-worthiness and stability (or provide explanation for exception), For Expansion Loans: minimum 3 years of profitable operation (verified by professional financial statements), one year of projected monthly cash flow and P&L, and a business case required
