A bit about me
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by the site.
My name is Amit. I grew up in India, moved to the US for my master's degree, and stayed there for the first half of my career. These days, I call the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada, home.
I had two main reasons for building this website.
First, a real need. A conversation I had with a local mom-and-pop convenience shop helped me identify a real gap in the democratization of freely available information around grants and foundations. It's free, but somehow still locked behind increasingly expensive subscriptions.
Second, I have often felt that the distribution of technology is not equitable. Large companies have increasingly stronger technology and business processes that are designed to benefit the companies at the expense of their consumers. Be it fighting over a missed flight, an incorrect online grocery order, or an issue with an online cab service, I have found myself fighting and many times losing against the large machinery designed to exhaust and frustrate you.
I firmly believe that the rewards of technological advances should be distributed across society rather than used to reward the select few at the top.
You will hopefully notice these principles reflected when you use this site. I have made conscious design decisions to ensure that users get a complete experience even if they do not choose to spend a dollar on the site. And I hope to keep continuing that philosophy.

We knew there had to be a better way.
