Get support for your small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) that is ready to respond to procurement opportunities, to scale up in the life sciences sector by providing the funding needed to commercialize a market-ready product.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Conditional grants covering up to 33% of eligible project costs to a maximum of $2.5 million. The funding supports scale-up, expansion, increased competitiveness, fostering innovation, commercializing new products for healthcare adoption, and building domestic manufacturing capacity within the life sciences sector. Recipients may also benefit from initiatives that support the adoption of innovation, advance commercialization (including IP supports), and reduce clinical trial times. Eligible project costs focus on scale-up activities and exclude ongoing operational costs, land/building purchases, vehicles, certain taxes, insurance, R&D, marketing, sales, and travel.

Other Criteria: for-profit company, has Canada Revenue Agency business number, at least 2 years of operations and audited or accountant reviewed financial statements for previous 2 consecutive fiscal years, at least 5 to a maximum of 500 full-time equivalent employees in Ontario by the project start date, located in, or plans to relocate to, a community in Ontario by the project start date, compliant with all applicable laws (e.g., Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005), does not owe any fees, levies, or taxes to the Government of Ontario or its agencies, project demonstrates readiness for scale-up or expansion of company operations, project is a continuation of work the company has already undertaken, project has financing in place by the project start date (to cover at least 67% of costs), project to be completed within 2 years from project start date, company has taken necessary steps to secure its intellectual property (IP), company has a working prototype and/or commenced small-scale commercial production and initiated regulatory approvals, with a timeline to achieve those approvals
