Funds for SMEs in defence supply chains
Helps businesses and organizations improve their role in Canada's defence supply chains. Provides support for projects that drive innovation and create jobs in regional economies.
Provides repayable (up to 75% for businesses) or non-repayable (up to 90% for non-profits, up to 100% for Indigenous recipients) contributions to support small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profits, and Indigenous organizations in Northern Ontario. The funding aims to integrate recipients into defence supply chains, enhance industrial and innovation capacity, and adapt dual-use technologies for defence applications, ultimately strengthening Canada's defence and security capabilities and bolstering regional economic development.

Other Criteria: incorporated businesses (including Indigenous businesses), not-for-profit organizations, industry associations, Indigenous-led organizations, within, or positioning themselves in, the defence supply chains, projects must be military-first and qualify under NATO spending target, projects must clearly demonstrate a specific military need, projects must contribute to strengthening Canada’s defence industrial and innovative capabilities, dual-use technologies must have a defined and measurable military component, investment decisions must be driven by a military or defence need, capable of entering into a legally binding agreement, managerial, technical, and operational capacity to achieve project objectives by March 31, 2028, financial capacity to complete the project, applicants typically contribute minimum 10% of project costs for non-profits and 50% for for-profits
