Funding to build capacity in the agricultural sector
Funding for projects aimed at increasing sector development, building capacity, enhancing profitability, promoting mental health, farm safety, food system awareness, and fostering leadership within the Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector. Projects are cost-shared (AAFC contributes a maximum of 70%, applicant a minimum of 30%). Maximum AAFC contribution for national domestic agricultural fairs for awareness or educational activities is $100,000 per year or $500,000 over 5 years.

Other Criteria: Not-for-profit organization (e.g., association of workers/employers, local community/charitable/voluntary organization, corporation), Not-for-profit Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit) organization (e.g., community/government, association), Must be a legal entity capable of entering into legal binding agreements, Must demonstrate the ability to deliver a national and/or agriculture and agri-food sector-wide project (encouraging stakeholder participation, implementing nationally, gathering support), Projects must align with program objectives (building skills, leadership, business management, farm safety, public trust), Prioritizes projects that develop sector capacity, build public trust, and are national in scope, Projects encouraged to engage Indigenous Peoples and other underrepresented/marginalized groups (Women, Youth, 2SLGBTQI+, Persons with disabilities, Members of visible minorities), Ability to demonstrate organizational capacity (relevant skills, experience, management controls, financial controls)
