Interns and subsidies for startups and SMEs
Helps businesses outside Ontario hire interns from Canadian universities and colleges. Covers up to $7,000 per student, per term for wages.
Wage subsidy (50-70%, capped at $7,000 per student per term) for eligible internships. Funding is distributed in two installments. Interns receive entrepreneurial and work-readiness training to contribute from day one.

Region: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut
Other Criteria: Registered as a small or medium-sized business, startup, social enterprise, nonprofit, or charity in Canada, Employ fewer than 500 people, Provide a safe and supportive internship that develops innovation or entrepreneurial skill-building opportunities, Employer must pay interns a minimum wage of $18.00/hour or higher, New employers are required to watch a pre-recorded Onboarding Webinar and complete a Knowledge Assessment
