Access financial assistance of up to $25,000 for start-up, asset acquisition, market and product development, and operational support.

Provides financial assistance for marketing activities in tourism, arts & crafts, and renewable resources sectors, including trade show participation, print/internet advertising. Offers operational support for business skills development, problem-solving, recovery/restructuring, emergency relief, and winding down a business. For the film and media sector, specific funding streams are available: Development (up to $10,000 per fiscal year), Production (up to $25,000 per fiscal year), Distribution and Promotion (up to $25,000 per fiscal year), and Special Partnerships (up to $25,000 per fiscal year).

Who Is Eligible?

Business Size: small, medium

Industries: tourism, arts and crafts, renewable resources, film, television, media

Region: Northwest Territories, Yellowknife, Hay River, Fort Smith, Inuvik

Other Criteria: NWT Businesses and entrepreneurs, Minimum 30% equity of project costs for Group 1 NWT communities (Yellowknife, Hay River, Fort Smith, Inuvik), Minimum 20% equity of project costs for Group 2 NWT communities (all other NWT communities), For general support: seeking assistance to increase business skills/capacity, identify/address problems, develop a recovery/restructuring plan, provide emergency relief, or assist with winding down a business, For film sector: NWT residents or NWT businesses engaged in commercial film and media sector production, with demonstrated proficiency (e.g., degree/certificate in film/media arts, award-winning production, credited professional role, documented industry experience, registered Full Member of NWT Professional Media Association)
