Get a wage subsidy to hire post-secondary students
Wage assistance (subsidy) for non-profit organizations, charities, and social enterprises to hire post-secondary students for summer jobs. The subsidy is $10.50 per hour, increasing to $11.50 per hour for students from designated diversity groups or for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) students. The maximum reimbursement is up to 525 hours per student, with a higher rate ($12.50/hour) for WIL students who are also members of a diversity group. The total funding per student can range from $2520 (240 hours at $10.50) to $6562.50 (525 hours at $12.50).

Demographics: youth (students), Miβkmaq or Indigenous, African Nova Scotians, Visible minorities (including persons of African descent), Persons with disabilities
Other Criteria: not-for-profit organization, registered as a charity or active society with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies, plan to hire a university or college student for 8-14 weeks between April and August, pay summer student-employee minimum wage or more (plus vacation pay) for full-time work, student must work at least 240 hours during their work term, for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) hires, position must allow student to earn course credits (with written confirmation), for WIL hires, pay at least $1 more than minimum wage
