Funding to support francophone businesses and communities in the Prairie region
Helps francophone small businesses start and grow by giving money for projects that boost the economy and encourage partnerships. Covers costs for initiatives that promote innovation and business development.
The Economic Development Initiative (EDI) provides financial support to projects that encourage economic diversification, business development, innovation, partnerships, and increased support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within official language minority communities (OLMCs) in the Prairie provinces. PrairiesCan is investing $3.2 million through the EDI over 5 years (from April 2023 to 2028). The program also helps develop capacities, expertise, and partnerships, offering services like training, access to capital, information, marketing advice, networking, and mentoring through local Francophone Economic Development Organizations (FEDOs).
