Funding for intern salaries in Northern Ontario
Helps businesses, non-profits, municipalities, and Indigenous communities pay for an intern's salary. Covers up to $35,000 per year, including employer costs.
Funding for salaries/wages and employerโs portion of Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs) for a limited-term internship position (52 weeks, minimum 35 hours/week).

Other Criteria: Applicants must be businesses, municipalities, Indigenous communities, or not-for-profit organizations, Applicants must be in operation for at least one year, Applicants must have a minimum of one full-time employee, Applicants must recruit interns through a fair and transparent process (e.g., public job posting), Interns must be new entrants into the work force, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed/underemployed entering a new field, Interns must not have previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship, Interns must be at least 18 years of age, Interns must reside and be legally entitled to work in Canada, Interns must have direct onsite supervision, Maximum two internship positions per organization (up to five research positions for colleges, universities, and research institutions), Second-year internships possible if required for certification, designation, or a registered apprenticeship exceeding 52 weeks of full-time employment.
