Training subsidy for Indigenous youth
Financial assistance (wage subsidy) to organizations in the housing sector to hire Indigenous youth for internship positions. Subsidies cover intern wages (in whole or in part, sponsor encouraged to contribute), all mandatory expenses (Employment Insurance, Canada/Quebec Pension Plans, workers' compensation premiums, vacation pay, northern allowance). CMHC may also cover some safety equipment costs and eligible skills training activities. Interns receive training, coaching, and mentoring.

Other Criteria: Sponsor must be: Indigenous government or affiliated organization, Public/not-for-profit Indigenous organization, For-profit Indigenous business, OR Public/private/not-for-profit non-Indigenous employer seeking to employ Indigenous youth., Sponsor must have time and staff resources to provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring., Sponsor must cover administration costs related to the position (supervisor time, office space, equipment, tools, technology)., Sponsor must hire intern for a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 2 years., Intern must be First Nations (Status or Non-Status), MΓ©tis, or Inuit., Intern must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
