Get a wage subsidy to cover up to 30% of the first years salary and 15% of the second years salary, when you hire a recent masters or PhD grad for an innovation job that pays at least $60,000.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Wage subsidy for hiring recent Masters or PhD graduates into innovation-focused roles. Employers receive 30% of the first year's salary and 15% of the second year's salary. An additional 10% subsidy is provided in year 1 if the employer hires a graduate from an under-represented group (Mi'kmaq/Indigenous, African Nova Scotian, visible minority, person with a disability, 2SLGBTQIA+ community member, woman in an under-represented occupation, or international student). The program aims to build a stronger workforce and retain young people in Nova Scotia.

Other Criteria: for-profit business with no more than 200 full-time employees, hiring a recent Masters or PhD graduate (within 1 year of first day of work), job must be innovation-focused and pay at least $60,000 a year, at least half of the new graduate's time must be spent on innovation-based activities (e.g., applied research, product/service development, market analysis for new complex products, activity improvement, process development/improvement, technical feasibility studies and pilots)
