Funding for beneficial agricultural management practices in B.C.
An on-farm cost-share incentive program to assist farm and ranch operations in mitigating risks identified in their Environmental Farm Plan or through extreme weather events. The program aims to increase the adoption of technology and practices to promote agricultural sustainability, climate mitigation and adaptation, and to contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment. Funding is available across eight categories, with a per-farm lifetime funding cap of $100,000 for the SCAP period (April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028), except for Water Infrastructure projects which have a higher cap of $200,000 for 2025/26, and Extreme Weather Preparedness projects with an annual per-farm cap of $50,000 for 2025/26. Cost-share ratios vary by category, ranging from 30% to 100% of eligible costs. In-kind contributions are limited to 25% of total eligible project costs.

Other Criteria: Primary production agriculture business whose primary purpose is the production and sale of agricultural products, BC registered business entity (including sole proprietor, partnership, corporations, cooperatives, Indigenous economic development corporations, and band-owned businesses), Taxable entity (e.g., individual, corporation, or trust), limited partnership, commune, cooperative with a GST and business number, or First Nation Band, Main farmstead in British Columbia and file farm income tax (form T2042 or T1273) under the Income Tax Act in British Columbia, For livestock operations, must have a 9-digit BC Premises Identification Number, Must have a complete and up-to-date Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) less than 5 years old, or meet the 6-month grace period for 2025/26 (EFP not required for Extreme Weather Preparedness categories), Must have completed prerequisite activities required for the chosen BMP activities, Licensed Aquaculture producers must provide a valid aquaculture license number (exempt from farm income tax criteria), Federally licensed Cannabis or Hemp Producers must provide proof of standard-cultivator, micro-cultivator, or industrial hemp license (exempt from farm income tax criteria), Vertical farming businesses are exempt from farm class status for specific categories but must provide documentation demonstrating minimum Farm Class Status Equivalent annual gross revenues in the prior year
