Training for unemployed workers to start a business in Nova Scotia
Entrepreneurial support (orientation, workshops, coaching, mentoring, business training), a weekly living allowance, continued receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits (if applicable, without increasing duration), and financial assistance for participation-related costs such as dependent care, disability needs, tuition, transportation, and accommodation. This assistance helps eligible unemployed individuals plan and start their own businesses.

Other Criteria: Unemployed individuals, Need to earn full-time employment income (min. 35 hours/week, supports basic living costs and business costs, equal to or greater than minimum wage), Attached to the labour force for a minimum of 24 months (actively seeking employment, employed full-time, part-time seeking full-time, or self-employed through a previous business), Have a viable business idea (assessed by Self-Employment Coordinator), LMDA eligible (must meet one of the following: current EI claim, EI claim ended within last 60 months, received EI emergency response benefit within previous 60 months, or employed with gross insurable earnings of $2000+ annually in at least 5 of last 10 years), Willing to devote at least 35 hours per week to planning and starting their business (accommodations for persons with disabilities), Business idea must have potential to provide full-time income and an average hourly rate of earnings of minimum wage or more
