Support for Canadian businesses facing the impacts of tariffs
Helps small businesses in the Prairies facing financial strain from tariffs maintain operations and jobs. Provides up to $2 million in short-term funding for up to 12 months.
The program offers contributions (non-repayable and repayable) to businesses affected by tariffs and to not-for-profit organizations supporting them. Businesses can receive up to $2 million for liquidity assistance and up to $1 million for pivot projects (up to $3M combined non-repayable, or up to $20M including repayable for larger transformative projects). Not-for-profits receive funding for projects that help businesses diversify markets, improve productivity, and strengthen supply chains. Indigenous applicants may receive higher funding coverage percentages (up to 80% for commercial, 100% for non-commercial).

Other Criteria: incorporated for-profit businesses, not-for-profit organizations (supporting tariff-impacted entities in the Prairies), Indigenous-owned businesses and organizations, for-profit businesses must have been viable prior to tariffs, demonstrate impact from trade disruptions (U.S. tariffs, Canadian countermeasures, countervailing duties), for-profit businesses demonstrate impact through e.g., operating in an impacted sector, 25%+ US export revenue, significant cost increases, supply chain disruption, or revenue/customer loss due to tariffs, not-for-profit organizations must support businesses, innovators, or entrepreneurs in the Prairies negatively impacted by tariffs, not-for-profit organizations must be capable of entering into legally binding agreements, Current RTRI business recipients may be eligible for liquidity assistance starting Aug 22, 2026, for up to 12 months, provided no duplication of funding for existing contribution agreements
