Funding for R&D collaborations with students
Funding support for innovation-driven projects, providing interns with valuable work-integrated learning and professional skills training. Connects research talent (students/postdocs) with organizations for strategic insights, enhancing operations, improving processes, and developing new opportunities. The award is per 4-6 month internship unit, paid to the academic institution. Partner contribution is $5,000 or $7,500, with Mitacs contributing $10,000.

Other Criteria: Partner organizations: for-profit corporations (must receive >50% funds from non-government sources), eligible not-for-profit corporations, municipalities, or hospitals in Canada, Interns: post-secondary students, postdoctoral fellows (graduated < 5 years ago), recent graduates (within 2 years of graduation), non-degree students (diploma, certificate, etc.), or visiting students/researchers at Canadian academic institutions, Interns must be 18 years or older, have status at a Mitacs partner Canadian academic institution, and be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, international students with a valid student visa, or international postdoctoral fellows with a valid work permit, Part-time students are eligible under specific conditions (student status for duration, institution insurance, institution can pay stipend, commit to project duration), Academic supervisors: faculty at a Canadian academic institution eligible to hold Tri-Agency funds, Project must address one or more business innovation components
