Funding for R&D and commercialization in Northern Ontario
Helps businesses pay for innovative technology projects involving research and development. Covers half the project costs, up to $2 million.
Conditional contributions for projects supporting the research, development, and commercialization of new and innovative technologies in Northern Ontario. Funding can cover up to 50% of total eligible costs, with a maximum of $500,000 for R&D only projects, and up to $2 million for combined R&D and commercialization or commercialization only projects. Combined federal and provincial government funding may not exceed 75% of eligible project costs.

Other Criteria: private-sector businesses, can be in partnership with a public sector academic or research institution, private-sector business must be the lead applicant and funding recipient for partnerships, partnering academic or research institution must have relevant expertise and resources, projects must involve applied research & development or demonstration & commercialization of new and innovative technologies, innovation must meet NOHFC’s definition, for demonstration & commercialization projects: must own, have registered a patent for, or have the rights to exploit the intellectual property associated with the technology, for demonstration & commercialization projects: must be able to demonstrate that the technology has been tested and fully validated
