Financial support for Manitoba First Nation businesses
Helps Manitoba First Nation-owned businesses pay for start-up, expansion, or acquisition costs. Covers up to 40% of those costs.
Non-repayable contributions to support the start-up, expansion, or acquisition of viable First Nations businesses. Funding can cover up to 40% of eligible costs (max $99,999 for individual-owned, max $250,000 for First Nation/group-owned). Additional non-repayable contributions are available for business valuations (up to 75%), business plan development (up to 75%), environmental assessments (up to 75%), marketing costs (60%), and business support/training/aftercare management (75%).

Other Criteria: at least 51% owned by a First Nation band or First Nation band member or group of First Nations, business headquarters located in Manitoba (First Nation members outside Manitoba are eligible if business is in MB), minimum of 10% cash equity to put into the business, minimum of a 40% commercial loan is required as part of the total financing of the business, First Nation owner or partner must be an integral part of the business, business must show viability and management capacity through the submission of a business plan, for acquisition: require three years of historical financial statements and an independent Business Valuation done by a Certified Business Valuator, if a partnership, contribution will be in proportion to First Nation’s ownership
