Funding for clean energy infrastructure projects
Funding for preconstruction activities (including studies, planning, design work, assessments, consultation, and knowledge sharing) required to advance clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects toward a shovel-ready state, enabling critical minerals development in Canada. Provincial and territorial government applicants may be eligible for up to $100 million per project. Funding covers up to 50% of eligible expenses, with up to 75% for Arctic, Northern, or Indigenous-led projects.

Other Criteria: Legal entities validly incorporated or registered in Canada (for-profit, non-profit, provincial/territorial/municipal governments, Indigenous groups/organizations), In good standing with NRCan, Effective control of all constituent elements of the project, Proposed infrastructure project must enable the sustainable development and expansion of critical minerals in Canada, focusing on the upstream (mining) segment of value chains, For Stream 1 (Preconstruction): Supported mining project must have at least a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) or a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) with a PFS in progress to be submitted within 1 year, Energy generation projects: minimum net installed capacity of 500 kW (Indigenous-led) or 4 MW (not Indigenous-led), Transportation infrastructure must be for the movement of critical minerals (not just people/equipment), Organizations with 20 or more full-time equivalent employees must have an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) plan or public commitment
