What Is This Program?

Employers who hire a graduate from a registered co-operative education program into full-time employment can claim 15% of wages and salaries, up to a maximum of $2,500 per year, per graduate for the first two consecutive years of full-time employment.

What Benefits Are Offered?

Refundable income tax credit for employers who hire and retain graduates from recognized post-secondary co-operative education programs in full-time employment in Manitoba. Employers can claim up to 15% of wages and salaries, to a maximum of $2,500 per year, for each of the first two years of employment (total maximum of $5,000 per graduate).

Other Criteria: Employer is a taxable corporation, exempt corporate entity, unincorporated employer, private company, co-operative, Crown Corporation, municipally-owned business, or not-for-profit organization, Hires graduates from a registered co-operative education program (post-secondary program can be from Manitoba, elsewhere in Canada, or foreign), Graduate's employment is full-time and related to their field of study, Graduate is located in Manitoba for permanent employment, Employment must begin within 18 months of completion of all course requirements or the graduation date (whichever is later), Graduate must have received a degree, diploma or other certificate of completion for completing a co-operative education program
