Browse Open ProgramsWage subsidies to help cover intern salaries (up to 80% for youth from employment equity groups, or 50% for other qualified youth, to a maximum of $25,000). Funds are also available for wrap-around services such as training, certifications, personal protective equipment, transportation, childcare/family care, remote work supports, and adaptive technology. Employers gain access to skilled, job-ready young Canadians and provide meaningful work experiences in the clean economy.

Other Criteria: Eligible employers: Legal entities incorporated or registered in Canada (for-profit, not-for-profit, Indigenous organizations, governments, public health, educational, cultural organizations, or individuals), Employers must be able to contribute at least 20% of the intern’s gross salary, Employers must be able to create a new position with an environmental focus for an individual who does not currently work at the organization, Employers must be able to host an internship between 4-11 months in length, Employers must be able to supervise and mentor an intern utilizing a formal training plan, Employers must have an established payroll system, Employers must be able to receive payments by direct deposit, Eligible interns: Must be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of the internship, Eligible interns: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, Eligible interns: Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have been granted refugee status, Eligible interns: Must be a graduate of degree or diploma programs from universities, colleges, post-secondary schools of technology, post-secondary institutes and CEGEP (collège d’enseignement général et professionnel, Québec)
