Funding to create or upgrade cultural spaces
Financial support for renovation projects, acquisition of specialized equipment, and planning, design and feasibility studies related to arts and heritage cultural spaces. Supports improved physical conditions and increased access for Canadians to these spaces. The program can fund a maximum of 50% of total eligible expenses, with higher percentages possible in exceptional circumstances.

Other Criteria: Not-for-profit art and/or heritage organization, Incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act or equivalent provincial/territorial legislation, Active in its arts or heritage mandate for over 2 years, Creates, produces or presents works where most activities include compensated artists, creators, heritage practitioners OR provides professional services for other arts/heritage organizations OR collects, preserves, interprets, studies, exhibits heritage collections, Provincial/territorial government, municipal administration, or their agencies (including post-secondary institutions) with historically demonstrated commitment to arts/heritage activities, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or MΓ©tis) governing body or one of their agencies with historically demonstrated commitment to artistic or heritage activities, Operate in a manner consistent with professional standards, Compensate artists, creators, and practitioners for their work, Programming is available to Canadians or to their communities, Own the space or have a minimum 5-year lease and written permission from the owner for renovation, construction, or equipment installation projects, Have other sources of project funding (contributions from applicant, private sector, other levels of government, other federal institutions), Applicants requesting over $1,000,000 must include a formal business plan and financial operating forecast for 3 years, Renovation and construction projects with a total cost of $5 million or more are required to provide supporting documentation (quotes/estimates) less than six months old
