Tax credit for scientific research in Ontario
A 20% refundable tax credit for qualified expenditures on scientific research and experimental development work performed in Ontario under contract with eligible research institutes. Qualified expenditures are capped at $20 million annually, resulting in a maximum annual tax credit of $4 million.

Other Criteria: corporation carries on business in the tax year through a permanent establishment in Ontario, corporation is not exempt from corporation income tax, corporation entered into an eligible contract with an eligible research institute, corporation is not connected to the eligible research institute, scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) is performed in Ontario by an eligible research institute, SR&ED is related to a business carried on in Canada by the corporation, corporation is entitled to exploit the results of the SR&ED, contract entered into after May 6, 1997, qualified expenditures are payments of money (not in-kind), qualified expenditures are current expenditures that qualify for the federal investment tax credit
